XMAS GIFTS For Soldiers on Active Service in Auckland Battalions and Regiments. The MAYORESS OF AUCKLAND as President of the Women's Patriotic League of the Province requests the help of every man, woman, and child in the Province to provide a Xmas Gift for every Soldier in France, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Samoa, and who may be at sea on Xmas Day. The Gift to be in the form of a parcel value 5/to consist of Tobacco, Cigarettes, Sweets, Puddings, Tongues, Butter, etc. Every y thing excepting the Tobacco and Cigarettes to be of New-Zealand manufacture or production, and thus provide A Bit of Home Away from Home. i SPECIAL. —Arrangements have been made for facilitating transport, and for delivery direct to the Auckland Battalions and Regiments. The scheme is a Dominion one, as at a recent Conference called by Her Excellency, The Countess of Liverpool, each of the four chief centres agreed to provide for its own Battalions and Regiments. Auckland men entered in Southern units will be cared for by them, and vice versa, so that every New Zealand soldier will be provided for on the same basis.
