THE KEEPER FINED £75. SEQUEL TO GREY STREET RAID. At the Police Court yesterday afternoon a Chinese named Harry Wong (54) i was charged with being the keeper of a gaming house in Grey street, and fourteen other Chinese were charged with being found in such gaming house. The circumstances leading to the raiding of the house on Friday night last were given in evidence by Serjeant McCarthy, who had had the place under observation during June and July. He detailed tlie incidents of a number of surreptitious visits and one open visit to the house, when he saw Chinese playing a domino game called "hiang gow" for money. Late in Juno his observation was somewhat restricted by the appearance of a half-bred bulldog in the y ird of the house On Imday niglit when the raid, about 11 p.m.. was made, the front door was found barred, and when it ivas forced the lights wens switched off. A search resulted in the finding of fifteen men, pome of them in hiding, iind all fully dressed, while in one room the dice and dominoes for play were found set out. while a quantity of fan-tan paraphernalia and a large number of pak-a-poo tickets were also found. The house had only three bods, but a long sleeping bench lined the wall of one room, and the kitchen was equipped extensively, indicating that patrons of the place wore well catered for in the matter of food. After the landlord had given evidence that Wong was the tenant, the latter entered a plea of guilty, and was fined £T.i and 10/ costs. Of those found in the house Willie Hoy wa* lined £■"> and All King;. Sum Key. All Sing, Ah Lee. Charlie Ah I Leong. Ah Mee. and T.oo Doo were fined I each £3 and 14/fi costs. Ah Kee. Ah i Lay, Ah Shoe, Ah Lee, Ah Joe, and Ah | Kit. who were able to show legitimate business in the house, wore acquitted.
