TAUMARUNUI INQUEST.

TAUMARUNUI, this day

An inquest was held be,fore Mr. A. S. Laird, District Coroner, this on the body of William George Renouf, aged 29, a married man, who died yesterday as the result of an accident on May 21, caused through a fall of pumice bank while loading a cart. Deceased leaves a wife and two children.

Annie Richards, a married woman, said she had her attention drawn at the time of the accident to pumice falling. iHie heard groans, and saw deceased lying face downwards in a cart covered with earth, except the back of the head. With the assistance of a Maori she uncovered deceased and placed him on the side of the road. Deceased complained of numbness of the limbs.

George Young Canton, borough foreman, said he warned deceased two days prior to the accident that the place was oangerous for an inexperienced man to work at, owing to the risk of slips. Dr. MaeKnight said he found deceased suffering from dislocation of the spine, the left thigh was broken, and the le"----paralysed from the hip downwards. A verdict was returned that deceased died on July 4 as the result of injuries received on May 21 on the Main South Road, Taumartmui.
