MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE.
A WELLINGTON AFFRAY. (By Teleitraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Wednesday A man named William Reynolds was charged at the Magistrate's Court to-day with manslaughter by killing Bert Parker ou May 30. The principal facts adduced by the prosecution were that the deceased and his wife lived in Willis Street. On the night of the occurrence Mrs. Parker met her husband at the corner of Willis and Dixon Streets. The I deceased and two other men went into an hotel for a drink, and Mrs. Parker remained talking with another woman. Reynolds, who was standing near by, approached the two women and made improper suggestions, whereupon Mrs. Parker struck Reynolds across the face twice. Shortly afterwards Parker returned, and lie and his wife went away together. Mrs. Parker was telling her husband what had happened when Reynolds came up behind and interfered with them. Parker turned around, whereupon Reynolds struck him a blow on the mouth. Parker fell to the ground, his head striking the kerbing. I Fie was rendered unconscious, and died in the hospital the following day, after having been operated upon with the object of removing the pressure on the brain. Death was due to hemorrhage of the brain. The accused, who pleaded " Not guilty." was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was Aged at £150 and one surety of £150 or two of £75. ,
