The Hon. \V. Fraser, -Minister for Public Works, left for Wellington by the express last evening-.
Mr. .ramea Hislop. Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs, returns to Wellington by tho express to-morro v night.
Mr. Justice Stringer. President of the Arbitration Court, was a passenger for Wellington by the. express last evening.
Private J. J. Coulter, -who is leaving for the front, was I'Htertnined to a farewell social at Titirangi by Mr. and -Mrs. \V. Bishop.
Captain John Bollone. of the Government steamer Kinemoa. has been successfully operated upon in a private hospital at Wellington.
Mr. \V. S. Short. Under-Secretary for Public Works, loft Tor Wellington by the express last night.
Sir Henry ft. Richards, Chief Justice of the I'nitrd Province of Agra and Oudh, India, is staying at thp Grand Uotel. His Honor is accompanied by his wife and -Miss Richards.
The Rev. Canon Nelson to-day attained the jubilee of his entry into Holy Orders. He arrived in Auckland in 1870, and for 38 years was vicar of St. Paul's.
Mr. F. H. Pope (chairman of the Auckland ecction of the Public Service Association), and Mr. W. B. James, ot the Police Department, leave for Wellington by to-morrow night's express to attend the conference of that bodr.
The Rev. Howard Elliott has resigned the charge of Mount Eden Baptist Church after eight years' faithful service. He has accepted an invitation to be tho national lecturer under the Orange Grand Lodge of New Zealaiid, to form a Protestant Political Association in the Dominion.
