RECRUITING TACTICS.
SOME NOVEL DEVICES. :(Rcceivcd 12.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The State Recruiting Committee is constantly introducing novel methods for arousing enthusiasm. The latest is four clowns on parade in the city. Immediately a crowd is attracted the recruiting officers appeal for volunteers. Another well-staged attraction is a collision Itetween a lorry and a motor car. The drivers, who indulge in a heated argument, come to blows. Crowds eager for a free fight quickly gather, and are then enjoined to participate in a greater contest. A recruiting train touring the country districts met with considerable success.— (A. and N.Z.
