LOCAL RELIEF.
I'ATRIOTU' ASSOCIATIONS WORK.
The fortnightly meeting of the Local Relief Board of'the Auckland PatrioticAssociation was held this morning, when fifteen new applications for assistance were considered and granted. During the past fortnight relief has been granted in lb':i cases i including those mentioned), and altogether 101 payments, amounting to £247 14/S, have been made. The Hoard expressed its appreciation of the remission of absent soldiers' rates lathe Takapuna Korough Council, the ehairmaii (Mr. V. J. Lamer) stating that help of this kind would greatly benefit many families, and was ivarmiy appreciated by the dependents of soidiers A tribute to the work of Mr. A. <V. C'aughey, who lias been v member of the Relief Board since it was founded, and is now retiring for private reasons, was paid by the chairman, who thanked Mr. Catighey, on behalf of the Association, lor his services.
