A BIG PARADE.

PRESENTATION OF D.C.M. INSPECTION BY SIR JAS. ALLEN. TERRITORIALS AND CADETS. There will ibe a big muster of Territorials and Senior Cadets this evening, when the Minister for Defence (the Hon. Sir James Allen), who is at present in Auckland, will inspect the various units 0 f the No. 1 (City) Group.

The Senior Cadet companies will parade ill Princes Street at 7 o'clock this evening, when the .Minister will conduct his inspection. One hour later the {Territorial units and the .Motor S'ervica Corps will parade at the Drill Hall, where the Minister, in the course of his inspection, will present to Major John Birnic, of O'Kourke Avenue, Remuera, the Distinguished Conduct Medal which was won by his son, the late Sergeant R. Birnie, iif No. 1 Battery, N.Z.F.A.. This high decoration was won by the late sergeant on July 25 of last year, and was awarded for conspicuous gallantry On four separate occasions the sergeant did the most gallant work, serving his gun and replacing protection works while under fire -fter this he was promoted to Battery SergeantMajor, and was killed in action on November 11 of the same year

The orders for the Territorial parade command that all units shall muster in drill order, those possessing arms to carry same. Tlie Army Service Corp9 will parade in the pun room, the Engineers and Railway unit on the tennis court, and all other units in the hall.

The parade muster of the Senior Cadets is expected to reach somewhere in the vicinity of 4.000, and the different units will assemble at various prearranged points, and march to the place of the parade. Princes Street. The 4th. 13th, ISth, and 23rd Companies will muster in Lower Symonds Street, and the secondary school companies are to meet at Waterloo Quadrant. Companies 26. 27. 28, 29, 30. 32, and 33 are to parade in O'Rorke Street, and other Senior Cadet units in Kitchener Street. Punctually at 7 o'clock the units will all assemble at the place of the main parade in Princes Street, and, to prevent all confusion, the arrangements provide for a sergeant-major to be stationed at the gates of Government House to direct lads where to find their units. There has been a great deal of organising work necessary to ensure the orderliness of «_ch a very large parade, but the arrangements made seem to obviate all probable points of difficulty or confusion.
