BURGLARY AT WAIHI.
ESCAPE AFTER DISCOVERY. (By Telegraph.-Press Association.) WAIHI, this day. At 1 o'clock this morning a burglary was attempted at Mr. Wynyard's ironmongery store. Mr. Ontes, the manager, ivlio lives over the shop, was awakened by a noise as if something had fallen, and found two men in the cycle department. lie attempted to strike the men with a stick ho had picked up, but both ran into the main shop and closed the door, which gave them a atart ami enabled them to make their escape through a window hy which they had entered. Nothing of value was taken. The police are investigating the occurrence.
