ARTILLERY ACTIVITY ON THE FRENCH FRONT.
TARTS, June 10. A communique states: Our batteries were very active last night in the region north of St. Quentin. The Germans renewed their attempts at various points in the fhemin dcs Dames area from south of Filain te past of Cerny, where the artillery duel was continued violently. Our fire dispersed four successive attacks north-east of Cerny. Two surprise attacks north of Kroidmont Farm, on the Ycrdun front, were broken by our artillery. The enemy suffered heavy losses. The latest communique reports an artillery duel south-east of St. Quentin and north-west of Braye-en-LaonnoU. In the latter sector, which is on the Cliemin dcs Damce ridge, an enemy raid was easily repulsed. The day was quiet elsewhere. — [A. and N.Z. Cable.) LONDON. June 10. A German official report describes artillery duels of greater intensity on the Cliemin dcs Dames ridge and the Aienc-Marne Canal. It claims: We repulsed French advances at Prayc and Cerny. nnd detachments in the Yosges. There have been many air fights. We brought down l.i enemy machines.— (Admiralty per Wireless.)
