RAILWAY RESERVISTS.
108 APPEALS WITHDRAWN. (By Telegraph.—Pres AsßodaMon.) WEIJJNGTON. Thursday. TJie position of the Railway Department in regard to the exemption of its servants was discussed before the First Wellington Military Service Board today. Mr. McVilry. assistant general manager of railways, appeared in respect of the railway men drawn by ballot, and agreed to the following arrangement read by Captain Walker, military representative: — " Mr. McVilly withdraws the appeals of 10S tit men. and those appeals will bo dismissed. Fourteen men who appealed personally can proceed with their appeals a.i»d. as far as the Department is concerned, we get the men whose appeals are disallowed. We get 56 volunteers, all of whom are in the First Division. They or their substitutes have to go into camp at the end of this month. If any are rejected or otherwise we cannot get them, the Department wil supply us with men to fill their places. The men are to go into camp this month without asking for leave." Adjournments sine die were made in the ease of a number of police constables, for whom Commissioner O'Donovan appealed. Appeals for several wireless operators were also adjourned sine die and the jappeal of a fireman on the ground of public interest was allowed.
