A BUSY TIME AHEAD.

Mr. T. llarlc Giles. Conciliation Comimiflsioner, returned this -morning from Gisborne, where he has spent about tliree weeks dealing with various disputes filed. The results have been very successful, as full settlements were arrived at in tlie Poverty Ray and County General Labourers, the Gisborno lUintors and Decorators, and tlie Carpenters' ami Joiners' disputes. Partial settlements were reached in the hotel ! workers' dispute, nnd evidence wa.s taken in the plumber and gas-fitters' dispute. j On Monday next the Conciliation Cotuwil will have before it a dispute filed by Uie Taupiri Coal Mines Co., which practically asked a renewal of the existing agreement, which expired on December IP last, witli certain u-ueinl-Inients agreed to during the currency of that award. The assessors of the company are Messrs. E. W. Alison, W. .1. Ralph, and George Winstone. The Taupiri Coal Miners" Union has tiled counter-proposals, and appointed tho following assessors: Messrs. Win. J. .I ones, Joseph O'Brien, and It. L. Roberts. | Two disputes set down for bearing this week have hnd to -be adjourned to 'a date, to be tixed by the Commissioner later. These were Auckland (las Company (retort-house and firemen), and Auckland Tailors. Tlie hearing of the ] dispute in the plumber and gas-titters' dispute will lie resumed at Hamilton on jfhe 14t'h instant. Shipwrights and boatj builders will come before the Council on 'the 21st, and the cement workers at Limestone Island will lie taken Jit Whangarei on the 27th. On duly 3 a dispute filed by the emjiovers in the restaurant nnd tearoom business will also come before the Council.
