W.U.A.—The Workers Kdncnt.lon.it Association wrote asking for a donation towards the work oi the society, and also for the use of the Mayor's room in wlueli tv liolrt tbeir meetings. ,H was decided to grant the use of the Mayors room, but not to give a donation.

Remission of Kates.--Mr A. L. Haven, as agent for Mr 11. 1(. Sharp, who Is nn active service, applied for the remission of rates on several sections belonging to Mr Snarp. Declined.

Tram Track.—A letter was received from Mr Walklate, manager of the Tramway Company, stating that the company proposed to reconstruct the foundation of the triim track between, the lloyal dak i(nd Trafalgar Street, and between Church Street aud Mangere Bridge at the first suitable opportunity, lie considered it would be undesirable, however, to undertake the work until the Council provides facilities for disposing of the storm water at these places. Referred to committee Wages.—Mr Itrewln moved, and Mr Mortou seconded: "That tiie resolution re salaries :uid holidays of the Councils employees be rescinded, and (he qnestlon, together with their holidaps be reconsidered." Mr Morton, In .wcondlng the resolution, pointed out that about 'Zi per cent of the total Income of the tioroueh wis now being paid In salaries nnd wages to the oflicials ami workmen. Mr St/mp* stated that a borough workman had re cently been offered 14/ C a day, which was above the rate-paid by the Council. Mr Ainsworlh hiove'l as an amendment: "That the workmen who hud only Ik;.-ii granted a five per cent {acreage receive a further five per cent." The amendment was carried.

Hates. —The Mayor gave notice to move striking the fates for the ensuing year.
