Despite inquiries by friends and by tho police no trace has yet been found of a married woman, Mrs. J. T. Callagh&n, who disappeared from her honie at Sui-i----mer Street, Ponsonby, on Thursday, leaving a note to the effect that nobody would be troubled with her again. Mrs. Callaghan, who is 36 years of age, had not been well for some time, and had got into a rather nervous and depressed mental state, and had made a remark to a neighbour that she felt like committing suicide. Consequently, when her husband returned from work on Thursday, and found the note addressed to him and his wife gone, he communicated with the police. Mrs. Callaghan is of medium 'height, stoutish build, with fair complexion, brown eyes, and light -brown hair. When she left home she was wearing a blue costume, a heavy dark-brown overcoat, and a wide-brimmed green straw hat. Leslie Webber was admitted to the hospital with a broken leg on Saturday. He received the injury while playing football for V.M.C.A. during the afternoon. It is the second occasion on which Webber has had his leg broken during a football match. The fourth annual North Auckland Dairy Conference is to be held in the A. and P. Association's rooms, lii;jh Street, at 10 aun. on Monday, June 4. Several very important remits, from the Kaipara, Whangarei, Maungatapere and Waipu districts, concerning the dairying industry, will be discussed.. At 7.30 o'clock on the evening of the same date the annual smoke concert will be held at "The Tiffin." " Farmers' Week " has started amspiciously, a very great number of fanners having taken advantage of the opportunity of taking a trip to town. The anticipations of the officials of the Farmers' Union seem likely to be more than i realised. For the smoke concert on ; Thursday next it is questionable whether the Town Hall Concert Chamber will accommodate the audience expected. An admirable programme has been arranged, including 6uch artists as Miss Jessie Bartlett, Messrs. Barry Coney, E. Drake and the Lyric Quartet. The pupils of Miss Daphne Knight will also present a ballet, which is a novel departure for a smoking concert, and will undoubtedly be appreciated. Speeches will be made by Sir Frederick Lang, .Messrs. A. J. Entrican, A. W. Gillies. E. W. Kelpli, Colonel Patterson, H. E. Pacey, and others. "No Rubbing" Laundry Heip always in stock.
