STAFF RE-ARRANGEMENTS. TO SHAPE UP THE ENTERPRISE. At the City Councils meeting last night the Market Committee reported that Mr. 11. McAllister was appointed &h inspector as from May 14. anJ public notke had been given that all tioh consigned to the city ior human consumption must be submitted for inspection. The committee recommended that Mr. G. C. Munro be re-engaged for sis months, and that his position be defined a≤ follows: To be designated Trawling Snperintendent: salary to be £350 per annnm: to be In full charge of the yeseels, nets, staffs on vessete. and in control of yard; tally of fish to be that delivered ex ship to the manager of the market: trawlers to be run to meet the nee<lt- of the mi.. ;et. with early deliveries wherever possible: price of fish to be credited to trawlers at aCo 10/ per ton. The committee recommended that Mr. Munro be voted a bonus equal 10 3d per basket for the fish caught while tbe bonus system was operative.

The committee reported, further, that instructions had been given to have the trawler Cowen put on the slip for annual overhaul; that weekly meetings \rould be held at the market by the committee, and monthly progress reports supplied to the Council.

In a farther report the committee recommended that the Fish Inspector submit to the committee a report defining his duties: that the places for fish inspection bs Sanford's depots. Albert Street and Little Queen Street. Albert Street wharf, and Williams' smokehouse. Nelson Street; that it be advertised that all feh shops inuet apply for licence in terms of the by-law; that the Trawling Superintendent and the market manager furnish weekly reports to the committee- A report by G. J. Ward, that the Taranaki district should open a good market if attended to, was received, and an application for increased remuneration was not recommended favourably.

In the course of discussion on the reports Davis took occasion to deny a rumour that he was financially interested in an opposition trawling concern, and to point out that he had supported the municipal enterprise from the outeet. He added that he hoped the concern iwoold be run on business Jines. Mr. A. J. Entrican retorted that the concern was being run on business lines ; and he anticipated that it would not only not cost the ratepayers a penny, but would continue, as H had already done, to save the ratepayers hundreds of pounds iby keeping 4awn the price of an excellent food.
