OBITUARY.
THE DUKE OF NORFOLK. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received 10.35 a.m.) j LONDON, February 11. Obituary: The Duke of Norfolk, K.G., P.C., aged 69. Henry FitzAlan Howard, loth Duke of Norfolk, was by virtue of his title the premier English duke and thereditarv Earl Marshal of England. He was also the recognised head bf the English Roman Catholic laity, and as such made many visitß to Rome. He did not seek election to the House of Commons, but as a peer was appointed PostmasterGeneral in 1895, sholding office till 1900, when he volunteered for service in South Africa, his career as a soldier being terminated by an accident -which compelled him to return to England. He married a second time in 1904, and his heir is a son, the Earl of Arundel, now eight years eld. Though a Roman Catholic, he was entrusted as Earl Marshal with all the arrangements for the coronations of King Edward VII. and King George V., and carried out his duties with conspicuous success.
