A LITTLE SET-OFF.
£60,000,000 OF GUANO ON GERMAN ISLAND. (Australlaa and N.Z. Cable Association. SYDNEY, February 11. The "Sunday Times," dealing with the' question of recouping Australia and New Zealand for their war expenses, points out that Nauru, one of the islands taken £60,000,000 sterling. Nauru, or Pleasant Island, is situated midway between the Solomon and Marshall groups, and is about 700 miles northeast of the latter. It is quite isolated, the nearest land being Ocean Island, about 300 miles to the south-east. Oceas Island is noted for its phosphate depo.site, which have the same orisgin asffuano.
