The Birmlnsham "Weekly Post," In referring to the DjS.O. being awarded to Flight-Lleutenant Egbert Cadbury In recognition of distinguished service on the j occasion of tihe destruction of a Zeppelin airship on the 'Norfo'.li coast, has the following:— "Kligtht-Lieu tenant Egbert Cadbury Is the youngest sou of Mr aud Mrs George Cadbury, of the Manor House., Northtield. Tlie first public announcement of the youns officer's feat was made 'by Professor Sonnenscheiu at the meeting held at the Council 'House for the formation of an Anglo- ' Russian Society. Professor Sonnenschein slated th:it. like the Quaker in "Uncle loin's Cabin," Lieutenant Cadbury was l>repared in an emergency to say, '"Friend, thees not wanted here." In future Birmingham would be as proud of Egbert Cad'bury as London was of Lieutenant Robinson, V.C. "In a description of the fight, whlen Lieutenant Cadbury .himself gives, he cays the whole thing seemed to be over very quickly. It Tvas only about three-quarters of an .hour from the time they flew up that the Zeppelin was destroyed. The crew were game to the very last, and continued to return the flpe of the English airmen until the vessel collapsed. •■Lieutenant Cadburj, -who ts twentythree years of age. Is a member of the Society of Frieu-de, and was at Trinity College, Cambridge, where ihe was studying | for Üb« law, when tihe war broke out. He joined the crew of- the Zarifa, a mine sweeper, as an A.8., the Zarifa fcelng ft converted yacht, manned for the greater part by Cambridge men. On account of the abnormal Sharpness of his eyesight yonng Catlbury was selected to take up a position, in the bow of the boat to keep a look-ont for mines. The strain on his eyes, however, resulted in temporary Injury, an* lie <had to give up this duty. He subsequently recovered, and after lhaving served nearly a year at sea he joined the Royal Ts'aval Air Service, and soon gplned his pilot's certificate.
