Sixteen vessels were reported to have been torpedoed on Thursday. ■- Becent losses included British eteainers Vedamore (6,330 tons), Sasoniari (4,855 tone), Torino (1,850 tons), and two Grimsby trawlers; the Spanish steamer Macarena (1,122 tons); and the.Swedish steamer Varing (2,107 tons). All the crews were saved. r — •
