STOCK SALE AT TUAKAU.

Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their opening sale at their new yards recently erected at Tuakau, on Tuesday last. It was one of the most successful sales ever held In the district, every available pen being filled with sheep, and the cattle yards being unable to accommodate the stock that came forward. There was an exceptionally large attendance of buyers from all parts of the district, as far north as Warkworth, and from tbe King Country nnd Rotorua districts. Practically every line changed hands under the hammer, at prices which were considered most satisfactory to the vendors. The following were a few of the principal prices:—Shorn and forward lambs, 20/; shorn store lambs, 17/3 to 17/6; exceptionally good line of woolly lambs, 29/6; young ewes, from 35/ to 38/; aged store ewes were In very strong' demand, selling nt from 30/ to 35/; store two-tooth wethers, to 32/ C; fat wethers, from 33/ to 30/; Lincoln rams, in strong demand, sold from Bgns to BJgns; Romney rams, OJgns to Sgns; English Leicester rams. 2gns to 4gns; Shropshire rams, 2}gns to 3gns; aged rams, lgn to 2gns. There was a good yarding of fat cattle, which sold up to the ruling market prices. A large number of store cattle met with a ready sale, almost a com-, plete clearance being effected. Forward bullocks. £14 to £18 10/; IS-months steers, £10 15/; calves sold at £3 10/ to £5 6/; dairy cows. £10 10/.
