FOOTBALL FRIGHTENS FRITZ.
LONDON,''October 3. During the taking of Thiepval, says Beuter*s Paris- correspondent, three Ans-' tralians had exhausted their stock of bombs in-the approach to an enemy blockhouse, where a troublesome ma-chine-gun was mounted. One of them seized a Rugby football which had been dribbled along from the trench, and made a motion of throwing it into the blockhouse, whereupon the garrison of 12, mistaking it for a new and formidable engine of war, threw up their hands.
