Mr J. Carnahan, of Birkdale. has received advice that his sons, William and Andrew Carnahan, vrho are both at the front, are 'quite veil. Mr J. de V. Howard, accountant at the Pahiatoa branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has been promoted to GLsborno district. ' * The Bishop of Melanesia (Dr. C. J. Wood) arrived in Auckland by the mission steamer Southern Cross this morning, after a tour of the islands extending over four months. Mr H. T. Messrs. Wflßam Culpan and James Robertson have been elected joint vicepreeidentß of the Old Colonists' Association, in succession to the late Mr. J. J. Craig. Messrs. S. Coldicntt and" c! George have been appointed joint secretaries of tize Association. Mr. James Bain was presented with a cheque for £5 at the old colonists'l reunion yesterday, in terms of the bequest of the late Mr. J. M. McLechlan, this being an annual presentation to a descendant of the last survivor of the immigrants who arrived in the brig Brilliant, which came into Mannkau Harbour in 1841. Mr. Bain is a son of the laet survivor.
