THE DISTRIBUTION OF FISH. NEW GAME FARM COMMENDED. The monthly meeting of tlie Council of the AucKlauu Auciiinausaiiou Society last night was attended by Messrs xj. a. Whitney (iibairmau;, C. Uedley, auU it. lirayeou. charter of Affiliation.—The Kawhla 'Rod and Gun Club applied for affiliation with the Society, and the- application was granted. It was' also decided to send a charter of affiliation to all other clubs that were nnanciully in good standing .with the Society. "Display of Posters.—Respecting advertising rates claimed .by the ltaihvay Department for displaying the Society's posters, the Council decided to approach the Minister to have the posters uisp:ayed free ol charge, members claiming that the posters' were not advertisements, but were public notifications, for tne information of the public, and really benefitUng the tourtet traffic on the railways. Importation of Cartridges.—Keplies from Home respecting the importation of partridges this year were generally to tile effect that supplies were not at present available. and suggesting the placing of an early order for next season. •Similar .reply, was made to. inquiries re J plover. New Game Farm.—Reporting on the new game farm at Cambridge, the manager stated th.it he had found the site and soil excellent for the purpose. •The breeding pheasants haa started laying on October 6, and to date he 'already had 80 eggs. <He made suggestions as to fencing etc.. on which the ■ Council issued instructions. j eStubble Quail. —A Sydney correspondent {Mr A! D'Arey) advised the Socieiy to -make inquiries from China for a supply of stubble quail, that country Deing the best source of supply for Australia. The Council decided to make Inquiries accordingly,' and nt the same time to inquire : concerning Mongolian pheasants. Quail and Oodwit. —The Minister for Internal Affairs advised that the request .quail shooting season had been noted, and also intimating that the Society's request for opening the godwit season on January 1. instead of February 1. would be given effect. The extension of the quail season to August 31, it was explained, would require an amendment of tne Act, which would be attended to in due course.Mortality Amongst Trout.—Discussion occurred respecting the heavy mortality among the- trout fry (supplied \>y the Government hatchery this reason for distribution at the .Society's order, and it was generally agreed that the Cry snpplled were much too young for successful distribution. Fishing nf-Taupe—'Reports concerning •the fiehing in the Taupo district -were discussed, and the Council agreed to request the' Minister for Internal Affairs to endeavour" to get closer' co-ordination between the Tourist Department and the Fisheries Department In their activities in the Tanpo district so far as the stocking and netting of the streams ana Jakes were concerned. •

Distribution of Pry.—The Society's ranger reported having delivered 62,000 £&. as follows:—Ohinewal 1000, Kapakl 2000, Thames 10.000, Putakl (Waitomo) 19SS- O'orohonga 15,000, Pokaiwhenua 6000, Waimakarlri 5000, Cambridge 2000, Te .Aroha 3000, Paeroa 1000, Waluku 400, Onewhero 5000.
