TO ARRIVE IN DECEMBER.
EXCELLENT WORK OF HOSPITAL
SHIPS.

. WELLINGTON,. Monday.
The Governor has received a cable* A gram from the Secretary of State fori; the Colonies, announcing that the. hoa*A:- :- pital ship Maheno will follow the AutA I tralian hospital ship Kanowna, and will, arrive in New Zealand about December 15th.
The following communication his ■been issued by the Commander-in-Chief of the British Forces in France, and the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, in respect to the work done by the Maheno and Marama:—
1. "The Commander-itfChief directs mc to convey to you, and, through.you, to the directors and all concerned under •' them, his high appreciation of- their hard *work, arid the efficiency of ths arrangements for dealing with the medical aspect of the present situation." 2. "The attention of the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty has been drawn to the excellent work performed! - in connection with the conveyance of the wounded, their disembarkation at Southampton, and their removal from that port. Their Lordships-' desire to express appreciation of the services rendered during this time hy the personnel of the hospital ships, voluntary workers, s_d others who contributed to.the sue- • cess of the work. They desire that all concerned may be notified accordingly." His Excellency adds that since ths'.-'. New Zealand hospital ships.Maheno and Marama were first dispatched from these chores they have carried approxi- . mately 32,000 sick and wounded.
