" (By Telegraph-—Press Association.) CHRISTCHCECH, Thursday. A ballot for sections in. the Seaiorth. Settlaneat was held to-day. Four soldiersapnued for sections, and three were aßofctedi one being held over for further consideraiicnL. The sections were allotted to James Fitzharris, section 2, who was exanrined in; hospital at Wanganui; Wm. Bnrgan, section 7, now .on the staff of tile Qiristcnurch. Tramway Board: and Thomas C. Radford, section S, of Temnia, approved conditionallyAt a meeting of the Canterbury Land Board to-day, Mr. < xeorge Rces. of Washdyke, the vendor cf the Seaforth Settlement, informed the Board than; he would warrehalf the cost of the growing wheat crop on the estate, and would give the growing oat crop as a free gift to diseirarged soldiers who might take up the land There are about So acres of ■wheat and between 50 and 60 acres of ■aats growing on the estate.
