DANUBE CROSSING.
■ m THE AUSTRIAN STORY OF RUMANIAN ANNIHILATION. AN OFFICIAL DENIAL. TROOPS STILL CROSSING. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received 2.50 p.m.) LONDON, October 5. In view of the lull on the Somme, interest is concentrated in the Balkans, particularly the position of Rumania. The latest Bucharest telegrams deny that Austrian monitors destroyed the pontoon bridge on the Danube, and state that the passage of troops, munitions, and stores continues.
