WOMEN'S POLITICAL LEAGUE.
A meeting of the Women's Political League was held in the Foresters* Hall, Newton, on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Rule presiding. A motion of sympathy with all those bereaved by the war was carried, the members standing In silence. Mrs. Banme'a action in connection with the appointment of women inspectors to the schools was eulogised, the hope being expressed tbat the principle affirmed would soon materialise into tangible form. The proposed affiliation' with the -New Labour party was carried unanimously. In connection with the threatened rise in the price ot butter it was decided to urge the Board of Trade to Justify its existence by refusing to countenance the proposition, or if that is not in its power to advise the Government to take over the entire output, and regulate prices,, as some of the Australian States have done. A resolution' asking the Hon.' G. W. Russell to reconsider his decision re the appointment of a woman to the Board created'to censor the films, was also carried, women being, In the opinion of the meeting, better fitted to Judge of the pictures suitable for children than the average man.
