MEETINGS.

I NEW LYNN SCHOOL. The monthly meeting of the New Lynn if.eliool Committee took place ou Wednesday. Mr. W. J.. Tarker presiding. A discussion took place on- the maintaining and improving of the school grounds, and It was decided to approach the Education Board for financial assistance In order to clear that portion of the grounds Infested with' noxious weeds. Two members reported that they had been advised that all gifts made to the school were subject to a Government subsidy of 10/ In the £ over a period' of 12 mouths. This will.mean that the committee should receive a fair sum for future improvements, as gifts have been numerous to the sshool during the past 12 months. Including hiuidreds~ of shrubs, flowers, etc., silver cutis, silk flags, cabinet work, and a considerable amount of labbnr by residents. It was further resolved to approach the Education Board, asking for the fullest information with respect to ail subsidies that can he obtaiued in order that the school grounds, totalling tlve and a-ouarter acres, may be fully developed. It was decided to send a letter of appreciation to the teaching staff, acknowledging their successful efforts on behalf of various patriotic funds. Their latest effort was the sending of a Christmas gift to every New I<ynn soldier on active service. Tenders for*the cleaning of the school were consldetedl and it was agreed to accept that of Mrs. Denyer at 13/ per week. .
