EPSOM DISTRICT.
LOAN FOB WATER. A meeting of the Epsom 'Boad Board ■was held last evening, when there -were present: Messrs H. Frost <chalrman), W. Edgerley, C. E. Hemus, H. E. Valle, and T. Tyne. A House Destroyed.—The chairman reported that a house situated In Kitnnerley Road over which the Board had a mortgage had been destroyed by are. The ■Board was covered to the extent of £150. The report was received. A Wet Section.—A resident -wrote stating that owing to his property adjoining Corbett-Scott Avenue being Hooded by water from the road, the third successive ••on- he had purchased had been stricken by influenza. As a result, he bad lost several weeks' supply of milk and butter. It-was decided that the Board express its regret at the loss, but cannot admit liability.
Greater Auckland.—The Assistant UnderSecretary of the Department of Internal Affairs wrote stating that the petition for the inclusion ot the Epsom Road District in the City of Auckland had "jeen received, and would be attended to immediately.
Water Loan.—Formal resolutions were carried confirming the loan of £3500 previously authorised for the waterless area of the Epsom district. The special rate over the area is to be id in the pound and the sinking fund at the rate of 130 per annum.
Question of Amount.—Mr John Rogers, rf-lvil engineer, wrote acknowledging the receipt of £2 10/ on his account. He stated that respecting the fculance he had iu--structcd bis solicitors' to institute proceedings to collect it. A report from Mr Vaile respecting the dispute concerning the amount due was received.
Increase in Wages.—TJipnn receipt of a request from a Board's employee engaged upon the collection of certain rates, it was resolved to increase his wages from 30/ to 35/ per week. It was stated that the man worked half-time only for the Epsom Board.
Epsom Finances.—The clerk reported that the debit "balance at present was £040 2/8 on the general account. There was. in round figures, about £1975 to carry on for the next six months. The balancesheets, as submitted, were received, and referred to the Finance Committee.
A Subdivision.—Captain H. G. Archer wrote asking for the Board's permission to Duild upon a section with a frontage to Ranfurly Road of 60ft and to WoodhaTl Road of loft. It was decided to grant the permit required subject to the atrproval of the Board's solicitors.
