BeguLations. gazetted on Monday, provide that any superintendent or inspector of police may, -with the approval of the Commissioner of Police, make appliI cation to the licensing committee of the district for the. cancellation of an hotel license on any of the grounds following, namely:— <a) That the licensee has committed a breach of the licensing Act. 190S, or any regulation made under section 3 of the "War Eegulations Amendment Act, 1916, relating to the sale of intoxicating liquor, or a ■breach of any of the conditions of his license; or ' ", (b) Has Tiermitted licensed premises to be freqnen__d by disorderly or disreputable persons: or (c) Has failed to conduct licensed premises in an orderly manner; or v (d) For any other reason than that specified the licensee is not a fit and proper person to be the holder of a license. Upon receipt of such application, the clerk will call a meeting of the licensing committee, at which the licensee 'will be required to attend. Evidence will -be taken on oath, and the'committeeTnay, if it thinks fit, cancel the license. Upon cancellation of any license under these regulations—if the licensee is not ths owner of the licensed premises—the chairman of the licensing committee may, on request of the owner of the premises, order the .licensee to vacate the premises. If the licensee fails to vacate the premises he shall be deemed to have committed an offence against the war regulations, and be liable accordingly. If the licensee is lessee or sub-lessee of licensed premises, the chairman may. on request of the lessor or sub-lessor, execute in the licensee's name an assignment or surrender of which shall have the same effect as if signed by the licensee himself.
