AUSTRALIAN RACING.

BANDWICK SPRING MEETING. KILBOT WINS THE DEBBf. (Australian and X:z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, October 3. After having to make two postponements of the inaugural day's sport in connection with their Spring Meeting owing to wet weather, the Australian Jockey Clnb "were enabled to bring oft the : same at Randwick this kftern'oon. The weather was fine, but the face track was, of course, heavy. The New Zealand mare Kooya was made favourite for the Hurdle Race, but she had to strike her colours to the top-weight, Jack Rice. The field for the Derby numbered 16. the New Zealand colt Kilboy being elevated to the position of favourite.. In the early stages of the contest Kilboy was whipping in the field; but when the last half-mile came to be undertaken the favourite went up with his challenge, and, disposing of the opposition, ran home an easy winner. The victory of Kilboy was very popular. Polyerates, which was sent out favourite for the Epsom Handicap, put tip a great finish, against an outsider in Panacre, to whom he succumbed.

The ■Spring Stakes brought out a good iield of la, Sasanoff being favourite. The summing up in favour of the New Zealand gelding proved to be well justified, and after being- well placed throughout, he scored by half a length from Bee, which also hails from Maorllahd.

Colbert, Thana, and Pro Tern were first away. Colbert and Agathon led to the hnlf-mile post, where Kllboj- moved up from the rear of the field. Colbert and Kilboy were racing together at the bend. Kilboy was in command, at the head ot the straight, and the New Zealand colt, Increasing hie- lead at the distance, came on and won by two lengths and a-half from Eastconrt which beat Colbert a length. Time, 2.393.

Thirteen started. Cagou and Trince Bardolf were prominent at the start. At the mile post Prince Bardolf was in front, with Cagou, Bee, and Sasanof his nearest 'attendants. When the home turn was reached Sasanof and Bee went to the front; and the two New Zealand representatives fighting out a good finish, Sasanof won by half a length. Carlita was a length away, third. Time, 2.37 J.

KEXSIXGTON HANDICAP, a handicap sweepstakes of lOsovs each, with JOOsovs added. Seven furlongs. •St. Rceallne, 7.12 1 1 Cesarius, 8.10 2 Bandoliero, 8.1 3 j Twenty-one started. OTAHUHU TROTTING CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual report of the Otahuhu Trotting Club, to be presented to members at the annual meeting, on Friday, states that the committee have much pleasure in again submitting the annual report and balance-eheet. As will be seen by the balance-sheet, the club have asaln had another successful year. In carrying out the general progressive policy of the club, the stakes were increased by £525 from the previous season, and the limits were further reduced, also the fees for nominations and acceptances, wihich has been much appreciated by owners. The profit on the year's transactions amounted to £755 8/5. which has -been, transferred from profit and loss account to capital account, which now stands at £4755 8/5. In showing the way the club has advanced during the last ten years, the stakes given for five days' racing, in 1006 were £1415, or £283 per day: the stakes "iven for the lart season's racing amounted to £3670. or £!)17 -10/ per day for four days' racing: showing that the club has advanced with the times. Members would note from the balancesheet that the clnb has had to pay extra war taxation. The committee realise that tne money must be found to do their bit towards winning the war, and arc sure that the action in paying the extra tax without demur meets with the approval of all members. The club has given since the beginning of the war the sum of £706 to patriotic purposes, and m addition to this amount is still giving £10 monthly to the Auckland .Patriotic Fund until the termination of the war.
