y.Z. AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. WARREN" V. SEIDEBERG. The first night of the final of the Sew Zealand championship drew a record attendance to the Amateur Sports Club looms last evening, the contacting: players being A. W. Warren, Xew Zealand champion, and H. Scide'oerg of Punedin. The latter was the first to fihow form. an;l with runs of 21. 30, 37. reached 130. whilst Warren, who was slow to settle down, had only totalled 2.5. The former player, who has shown throughout the tourney remarkable billiards for an amateur, was in great form, Teaching the second century before his opponent had made 50. The Dunedinito was playing very confidently, and was seen to advantage in breaks of 33, 30 and 27. He made his 200 points in 3i> visite to the table, showing an average of 13 per cue. Warren was not playing up to hLs usual standard, and appeared to show lack of confidence, and the score board read Seidebcrg 350, Warren The former made these figures in 29 shots, and pleased the audience with runs of 51 and 72. Up to this stage the Otago man gave a most pleagjng display. Vis standard of billiards being exceedingly high. Warren showed a return to lorm with, a well compiled break of 74, and the score sheet read Seideberg 382. Warren IS2. At the call, after the fourth century was passed, the former was 400 to the latters 196. Warren improved his position by a nice break of 41, but Siedeberg evened matters up with 30, and reached his session 501, when the Aucklander's ecore stood at 241. The Duncdin player is in play with o 45 break unfinished, 42 of which was made from losing hazards on the white ball. Seideberg made, breaks of "2 51 15..30, 37, 33. 33, 30. 27 and 21. Warren's breaks over 20 were 74 and 41. The game will be concluded this evening.
