BRIBERY DENIED.
TOTALISATOR, AND POLITICIAN SYDSTEY, September 11. The actions in -which the Premier (Mr W. A. Holman), Mr J. H. Cann, Mr D. E. Hall, and seven other members of the Cabinet each claimed £2,000 against the newspaper "Mirror" for an alleged libel contained in an article entitled, "Does the bookmakers' money stand between the people and the tote?" has been settled upon the defendants. stating that they never intended to accuse the Ministers of corruption. Each of the plaintiffs denied that he had ever received consideration from bookmakers in connection with the proposed introduction of the totalisator.
