NEW ZEALAND HISTORY.
HOW IT*WAS UNEARTHED. The Hon. Dr. K. McNab. Minister of Marine and Justice,' repeated, at the request of the Civic League, last evening, in Hallenstein's Buildings, bis instructive and interesting lecture reported in the "Auckland Star" last July upon "How and Wihere New Zealand's Early History was Unearthed." Mrs. J. McKail Gcddee president of the League, who occupied the chair, introduced the lecturer to a good audience. Dr. McNab, in the couree of his lecture, stated that he 'had commenced by interviewing old identities, but not finding these reliable had devoted ihis attention to early printed records. Books ami magazines relating to early New Zealand gave practically no information. He eventually "went on to Sydney, from ■wihere the' old New Zealand whalers had come from, and was well rewarded. Dr. McNab subsequently vieited America, obtaining a good deal of information concerning the early days of New Zealand. Dr. McNab was accorded a hearty vote of /thanks.
