ALLIED AVIATORS DESTROY MANY GERMAN CRAFT. LONDON, September 11. Sir Douglas Haig reports: —"Many aerial combats have taken place. Wo destroyed three German machines, and brought down othere in a damaged condition." A French communique states:—"On Saturday, our aeroplanes engaged in forty combats over the enemy lines. The German air fleet suffered considerable losses. Five machines were wrecked. ' "An air squadron dropped 480 bombs on the railway stations and depots in the region of Chauny, on the River Oise. Eighteen aeroplane* dropped numerous shells on military establishments at Ham, south of Peronne. Many fires were 6cen as a result."
