STREET BETTING CASE.
.MAGISTRATE RESERVES DECISION. The case in which Francis Eugene Hayes (Air. Hall Skelton) k with having "loitered in" and "frequented" Queen Street on August 19 last for the purpose of betting, was concluded at the Magistrate's Court, before Mr. E. C. Cutten, this morning Joshua Carder, a boot manufacturer saut that he supplied the si.op kept by Hayes with boots. On the date in question was in the shop from about 1" 30 p.m. until a few minutes to one o'clock. Witnese looked upon Hayes as a "sport" —that was, a person interested in all forms of sport. He was a good business man, Dut witness knew little of his •private life, except that he was interested in. athletic pursuits.
