It is announced that Mr. William Joliffe, for many yeans law draughtsman, whose term has just expired, has been appointed by the Government to be censor in cinematograph films. The .Hop- G. W. Buildings for the purpose are being prepared, and the cinematograph plant belonging to the Agricultural Department will be employed. The Act requires that all films shown after October 1 must be approved by tho censor, but as strict enforcement of this provision would mean the cloeing of a -t__ber of picture houses, it has •been decided to issue general approval of all films on circuit on that date, reserving the right to call in for censorship any picture concerning whicli information may be received suggesting that it is of doubtful 1 : character.
