Sir John Findlay has left by the Manuka for Sydney. The Hon. A. L. Herdman, AttorneyGeneral, is on his way from Wellington to Auckland. Mr. Sigurd Lestrup, the Danish baritone, is coming to Auckland on Friday to fulfil engagements at two concerts. Mr. Alex. Mill, of the Poet and Telc--1 graph Appeal Board, has left Auckland for /Wellington. , i Captain Bone, marine superintendent lof the New Zealand Shipping Company, left by express for Wellington yesterday. I Commander Armstrong, R.N., Naval I .Recruiting Agent for the Motor Boat Patrol service, will arrive at Auckland on September 16th. Mr. Arthur WeHwood, an elderly Hawke's Bay settler, has p_swed away at Hastings at the age of 78 yeans, after an illness extending over several weeks. Mr. Alfred M. Barriball has been elected as the representative for the Lower Waikato district on the board of directors of the New Zealand Dairy As-1 soeriation. He received 12,625 Votes from 518 members, as against 6,556 from 289 members received by Mr. Joseph! Henry. Colonel and Mrs. Powley, of the Salvation Army, are leaving Wellington tomorrow for Sydney. After occupying the position of chief secretary for New Zealand, Colonel Powley proceeds to act as field secretary for Australia, with headquarters at Melbourne. He and his wife have been warmly farewelled ia Wellington. Mrs. .Rebecca Maiden died yesterday at the age of 78 years. Deceased was the widow of the late Mr. Henry Maiden at one time proprietor of the Royal Mail Hotel."
