CAREERS OF THE FAIXEN. LANCE-CORPORAL SPRATT. Lance-Corporal H. Spratt, recently roported wounded in France, is a son of Mr. J. J. Spratt, of Oneralii. This makes the third occasion on which Lance-Corporal Spratt has been wounded since the war began. Mr. Spratt has already lost one son, "missing on Gallipoli," and since counted as killed. SERGEANT MARK VIPOND. Sergeant Mark Vipond, reported killed in action, was the onhr son of Mrs J. H. Snook, of Sea View Avenue, Northcote. He was one of the first to enlist, and landed at Gallipoli on May 12th, 1910. He was three months in the firing-line, and *ac afterwards invalided to England, ln March last he was promoted to the rank of sergeant. He returned to Egypt about the end of December, and was with the forces there until the time of his death. Sergeant Vipond was educated at Ahuroa and Warlcworth schools, and was engaged in farming prior to enlisting. PRIVATE EDWARD B. COBURN. Private Edward Coburn (wounded) was born at New Plymouth, and was educated at the Central and West End Schools. Hp enlisted in the N.Z. Rifle Brigade, bnt was transferred to the 3rd Auckland Infantry. Hie mother resides at Eden Terrace, Anckland.
