FRENCH PROGRESS SOUTH-EAST OF THIAUMONT.
GERMAN ATTACKS FAIL WITH HEAVY LOSSES. (Received 11.50 a.m.) 9 > PARIS, August 29. An official communique says:—"Our brisk evening operation south-east of Tmaumont work resulted in substantial gains of ground. German attacks on Fleuxy aud Vaux Fort failed, with heavy, losses."
