The following cablegram has been sent »- to the head office, London, August 29, c 1916:—" We are crushing 420 tow per y day; the extraction is £1 13/ per ton. c No. 8 level: We are now. opening out No. * 8 level from main shaft." * h MINE MANAGEBS' REPORTS, n c Occidental.—Ten feet were driven in the __ north face at No. 6 level. Both reef and country have been very hard for tbe last ■ few feet, but a milder class is now coming S in. The reef looks very promising, and s some dabs ot gold were seen in a small leader. There are about 50 load- of general ore on hand, which will be crushed shortly. 1- Golden Belt.—The two rises started from the stopes above No. 1 level are not yet through the nint. Over the Intermediate level the reef ia looking well in the stopes, and dabs of gold have been seen in the quartz broken. Ore from this section of the mine h5 being crushed. Haurakl Reefs.—Nine men were put off c on Saturday pending the installation of the tr air compressor. Six men are working ou „ the Wyuyardton reef, where the prospects are encouraging. ■' New Sylvia.—At the drive north of No. 5 t level the lode is 6 feet wide, and fairly : - ■ -J rotaeralised. The hanging wall portion in the stopes is 4 feet wide, and highly mineralised. The Norfolk reef In the slope 0 is smaller, and does not carry so much mineral. WolotahL—Driving is proceeding northeast along the hangingwall of the old » stopes. Some good colours of gold were f seen in the quartz stringers last week. g
