Mr Coombe, a Labour member, read a document alleging that when Mr Peake (Leader of the Opposition) defeated at last election, Mr McDonald. (member for Alexandra) asked £1,0001 ■ for resigning his seat in favour of Mr Peake, but ultimately agreed to accept £250 per annum for three years and certain out-of-pocket expenses. The Liberals' strongly resented the allegation.
