FRENCH SOLDIERS OCCUPY A VILLAGE AFTER BOMBARDMENT

PORTION OF "LA PATRIE" RECAPTURED FROM THE GERMANS. During the Allied offensive of the past two weeks several French villages have been taken by British and French soldiers, the Germans being driven out ot strongly-fortified positions. Our illustration, showing French soldiers in occupation of a village after the Germans had been forced out of it by a violent bombardment some time ago, presents a typical view of war s devastation. The censor does not permit publication of the locality of the village, beyond the fact that it is "somewhere in France." There will probably not be the same reticence when the scene of wartare is shifted to "somewhere in Germany." "- photo su PP hed h ? Central ews '
