LIEUT. J. L. PRESCOTT. Lieut. John Laughton Prescott (eldest son o£ Mr. Thos. Prescott. of Birkenhead, who is on the staff of the Auckland Railway Department) hae been wounded in the right forearm and scut to Dover, England. He was a sergeant in the Territorial Forces, and upon the outbreak of war promptly volunteered for active service, and was cent to Samoa with the advance party, where he remained for several months. On returning lie sat for a commission, and as a lieutenant joined the Second Battalion of the Xcw Zealand Rilli , Brigade (Ear! of Liverpool's Own), mul left with the Seventh Reinforcements. At Cairo he attended the school of instruction for ollicers, anil was successful in his examination, eecuring a first-class pass. He waa in charge of the First Light French Mortar Battery at the front. He was educated at the Xorthcote St'hool, and at the Auckland Technical College, and learned his trade as a carpenter under Mr. W. Johns, builder, being just out of his time at the time of enlisting. He was a member of the V.M.C.A., and took a keen interest in the gyranaeium branch of that institution. PRIVATE F. J. WHEELER. Private Fred. J. Wheeler, of Glen Reid, who died on the sth inst., from wounds I received in action, was the youngest son of Mr. Fred. Wheeler, of UlenfielJ. He left in the Third Auckland Infantry lin the Eighth Roinforcemente. and wa* about 22 years of age. He was educated at the filenfiekl School, after leaving which lie Wfla engaged with his parents in the fruitgrowing industry at Glenfleltl. PRIVATE A. H. BOXD. Private Alfred Herbert Kond, who was some daye ago reported to have been wounded in France, was born in Bristol about 30 , years ago. He was apprenticed to the engineering trade and then joined jthe British Xavy, being .in engineer on frl.M.s. Carnarvon when she did her trials. Owing to a breakdown in health, he was discharged, and came out to New Zealand, settling first at Hawke's Bay. About five years ago he came to Auckland, and was emploj'ed on the machine-room staff of the " New Zealand Herald" and the "Weekly News," where he served until his enlistment. Private Bond was in action against the Senussi on Christmas Day. He took a keen interest in sport, and was a prominent Association referee.
