DRINKING IN THE HOME.
INCREASE IN LONDON,
Drinking In the homes is growing, and
there is an increase of excess among those women who drank before the war, according to a report by .1 London committee ol prominent women which has investigated the subject. Remedial suggestions offered include more drastic restrictions as to the distribution and canvassing for the sale or liquor, the withdrawal of the proposal that the wives of sailors and soldiers BhouUl not be arrested for drunkenness except after a lirst or second offence; the extension of a plan of trusteeship for the payment of separation allowances granted to wives whose husbands are fighting; and the appointment of special plain-clothes inspectors for saloons and of women police at police courts. -•■
