The ordinary meeting of . Tamatl Weet (Road Board was held last night. ■ Present: Messrs. E. Pilklngton (chairman), John Clark. George Gower, F. K. 'Hutcalnson, and It. McElwain. Deputation.—A deputation of ladies, on behalf of nineteen intending members, waited on the Board aud asked permission to form a new croquet club, to be called tbe Tamaki TVrst Croquet Club, and quite distinct from the St. Heller's Croquet Club. I The Board was aeked to give consent to 1 the proposed new club to use the Recreai tlon Reserve croquet greens, and to grant the same privileges to the new elul> as the old one enjoyed. It ~was resolved that a special meeting be held on Thursday next, at :'■ o'clock, to go into the matter. 'Bus -Service.—Mr. H. Worsp attended the meeting, and asked if tue Board could i see their way to subsidise the motor 'bus I service, as he was iuformed that the pro- ] prletor was considering withdrawing the ! servli-e during tbe winter, as It was not profitable, and be thought it -was in the best Interests of the district that the service should be continued. Although he did not use the bus largely, be was "willing to subscribe £10 towards any fund started for tho purpose. The Board advised Mr. Worsp that they did not think they had any legal power to contribute to p'rlvat* enterprise from the District Fund, but boped that something conld be done to |>eep the service going through the next two months. Snooting on Main Road.—A complaint was lodged by a ratepayer that on a recent nlcht he was doing along the maim road with his son when a motor car came along, and shots were fired from tbe enr nt a rabbit running In front x>f the headlights of the car. The pellets whizzed all round the pedestrians, find several struck the boy, but. belnc spent, they did not penetrate. The Board considered it -was a serious matter, and advised the cqmplalnnt to notify the police. Main "Rnafl Improvement.—The foreman reported thnt tbe last scow-load of shingle had been inferior to the material put on the I/me Drlvo. He adrlsed the Board that in the work on the main road it would be necessary to use more metal before putting on the shingle. It was resolved , that the work carried out with the best possible material, and. if necessary, defer to next year some portion of the work.
