PROBATE RULES.
DEFINITION OF FOREIGNERS. An important alteration of rules in the matter of probate and. letters of ad- ' ministration .J\a& teen occasioned by events arising from the war, tut they arc not -to lapse by reason of-the war., coming to an end, remaining in force '. until repealed. The Registrar-nf .ihc. .Supreme Court in Auckland (Mr. E. Goring Thomas) has been advised thiat the altered, rules provide that an affidavit shall be filed stating explicitly the place of birth and the nationality of the deceased and of the applicant. In case the deceased shall have been at any time a subject of any foreign State or Sovereign, but it is now claimed that he had become a British subject, the affidavit shall state when and in what manner he came a British :subject.- The- same shall apply to an applicant. . >■ < In case either the deceased or the applicant shall be, or at any time shall have been a subject of the State or Sovereign for the time being at war with His Majesty the King, the applicant shall state whether and by "what means or instrument he has obtained the consent «f the Attorney-General to the application. The; Order-in-Couneil makes further provision for fhe "taxation of coste, for procedure under the Companies Act. and other minor matters. The new rules take, effect forthwith.
