Mr. J. S. Dickson, M.P., was a paesenger by the Main Trunk express at midday. Mr. E. R. White, of Takapau, Hawke's Bay, arrived in Auckland yesterday, and is putting up at Oargen. " s ■ Mr. W. Baundors, local manager for T the Commercial Union Assurance Co., returned to Auckland yesterday, and is staying at Cargen. Mr. H. ,T. Wynne, chief electrical engineer to tlie Government Railway Department, is at present in Auckland, and ie staying at Cargen. Mr. V. W. Sirams, who lias occupied the position of meteorological observer at Wellington for the past nine and a-half years, has resigned. s The re-election of the Rev. Dr. Gibb ' and Rev. J. Richards, president and sec- , retary respectively of the Wellington ; Ministers' Association, is announced. ' Mr. and Mrs. Thomas On\ af Wellington, who were the first couple married in the St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral, celebrated their golden weddin" recently. • 1 Mr. S. Myerscough, Mus. 8., Oxoti., F.R.C.0., has been appointed by the Board of Trinity College of Music (Lon- ' don) exa-miner h practical subjects thie year for the college in New Zealand. Mr. Robert X. Gatenby, of Freeman's < Bay, has received cabled advice that his k son, Mr. J. B. Gatenby, has passed his C . final examination at Oxford University with honours, and has been appointed ! demonstrator in histriology. l Mr. Louis Bernard Garnaut, a wellknown sporting enthusiast, died at the residence of his sister, Mrs. E. Bailey, Northcote, on Saturday. The deceased who bad been in ill-health for the past eight years, was a member of the staff at the Sylvia Park Stud Farm. The Mother-General of the Institute of Xotre Dame dcs Missions, Deal, England, is expected to arrive m Christchurch shortly, on her visit to the vari- I ous institutions abroad. The Mother- E General (the Rev. Mother St. Pacome) ° was formerly Mother-Provincial of the Order in New Zealand. |
