C E. Dodge has regained the title of champion of the Victoria Chin, widen he held two or three yean ago. At the close of tie seoond round Dodge and C. B. Kelly led tbe field, with an aggreg3Te of 169. Last Saturday Dodge put in his •best round, SO. Kelly pressed bim very closely, and but for two short putts missed would irave been proclaimed the winner, as he only failed by one stroke, the respective scores were: Dodge, 85, 84, : 50—249; Kelly, S4, S5, 81—250. j Danrman, who started play after an ill- | ness, finished third, with S4, 87, 53—251.
There is some likelihood of new names appearing in the record of American golf championships this year. Mr. J. D. Travers is unlikely to defend ■his title to the "Open," Mr. W. J. Travi=. holder of the Metropolitan Championship, is dropping out- of tournaments, and Mr. P. Carter, the Metropolitan "junior" champion, is no longer eligible for that event.
