A NEUTRAL ON THE WAR.
SYMPATHY WITH ALLIES "DON'T CARE WHO LICKS KAISER." An illustration of the feelings of some Americans in respect to the present war may be gathered from the following extract out of a letter received by an Auckland gentleman from a friend in the United .States. Touching on the Mexican difficulty first, he writes: — "All this trouble woidd have been averted if only Roosevelt had been President. It makes mc heart-sick to see all this trouble in Mexico. Wilson is not fit for the position, and will be out this November. While the Germans are a great fighting machine, it is my opinion they will be licked good and proper by England and her Allies. I don't care a who licks the Kaiser. Russia is getting fully equipped, and has so many soldiers that she has sent thousands to Prance. England, with the help of her colonies, is getting into shape; and, take it all in all. 1 think Germany is done for. France is very definite in stating there will be no peace until the German war host is defeated."
